Weekend update.

Visited BFF over the Labor Day weekend. I was going to write a song about it, cleverly recounting the tale in verse, but I only got as far as “Nice lady and your hubs/I’m so glad you hosted me/I missed you kids a bunch/Native American wild rice salad was so tasteeeee. Jack Sparrow!”

So that didn’t work out.

Fortunately, the weekend did.

Friday: late arrival, sharing of chocolates and news. Sleeping.
Saturday: Maryland Renaissance Festival (My First RenFaire) with BFF and Mr. BFF, and their BFFs, Mr. and Mrs. Imangi Studios - several visitors are confused about the whole period garb thing, with everyone from bellydancers and goth fairies to the aforementioned Jack Sparrow in attendance; Fractured Prune donuts and Ponyo - henceforth to be known as the really adorable Hayao Miyazake movie either poorly translated by someone on lots of drugs or someone who has never had a child in their care ever; Better Off Ted. Sleeping.
Sunday: Sleeping in, owing to that whole 6 hours at a ren fair in the sun, late movie thing; mad, winding dash to the national mall to visit the National Museum of the American Indian (*cough* cafe *cough* WHAT? THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS! And we spent like, 20 or 25 minutes actually walking through, too.); grilling; Better Off Ted, Flight of the Concords, and Rockband.
Monday: Moroccan feast, sadfaces, and my return to Chicago.

I miss those kids. Sometimes I visit and think I could move. BFF is there, and the D.C. job market is apparently a hell of a lot better than the Chicago market - but I also wouldn’t want to contaminate their social circle of productivity and domestic bliss with my stink of directionlessness and singledom. Heh. Of course, if I found a job there, I’d only be half as socially leprous….
